During this internship, you will explore how GitHub Copilot can move beyond autocomplete and become more like a development partner. You will work on real software engineering challenges and investigate how AI can help developers write, reason about and improve code.

About Rabobank and the team

You will join a DevOps team that works at the intersection of backend development and AI tooling. The team experiments with technologies like GitHub Copilot to rethink how software is built. The goal is clear: moving from AI as a helper to AI as a real development partner.

You and your internship

As an intern, you will explore how Copilot can support developers in a more active and intelligent way. You will look at how AI can help in real development workflows, where it adds value and where it still has limitations.

You will work on topics such as:

• Understanding Copilot capabilities in IntelliJ
• Exploring agentic AI patterns in development workflows
• Designing smarter AI-assisted coding approaches
• Measuring the impact of AI on productivity and code quality

Your main technical playground will be backend systems using Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot. You can expect to use Copilot in real tasks, such as API development, refactoring and test generation.

What you will deliver

By the end of your internship, you will contribute:

• Research insights on agentic AI and Copilot
• Working prototypes and code examples
• An evaluation of the impact on productivity and code quality
• Recommendations for using AI in development teams

You and your talent

You enjoy building things, but you also like to question how they can be improved. You do not need to know everything already. What matters most is curiosity, a proactive mindset and the drive to keep learning.

• You are interested in backend development, for example Java, Kotlin or Spring Boot.
• You are curious about AI, Copilot and automation.
