In the Retail Banking traineeship, you work on challenging projects: from improving the Rabo Banking App to advising financial advice to ambitious entrepreneurs. Develop your skills at an astounding speed to become a financial professional. You can apply for this traineeship from May 1, 2026.

The Application Process

Step 1You Apply

Thank you for applying! You will always receive a confirmation of your application by email. We review all the resumes and motivation letters and will let you know as soon as possible if we invite you to complete an assessment.

Step 2Assessment

The online assessment gives us insight into your skills, your ability to adapt to changes, your intelligence, your preferred learning style, and your motivations and personal values. We will discuss this with you if you are invited for an interview.

Step 3Interview

We invite you for one or more (online) interviews. We want to know if you fit the role and the team.

Step 4Selection Day

On the selection day, you will come to our office and complete an assignment. This could be a personal pitch or a business case. You will also have an interview with a manager and meet colleagues and other Young Professionals.

Step 5Our Offer

Are you the new colleague we are looking for, and do you feel happy with us? Congratulations! You will receive an offer from us. Before you start, we conduct a legal screening to ensure that our employees do not pose a risk to us and our customers.

What will you be doing?

At Retail Banking, we provide smart financial solutions to private and corporate customers, from start-ups and scale-ups to first-time homebuyers and Food & Agri companies. We share our knowledge and connect companies and organizations in local networks that help make the world a little better. What your work might involve:

  • Our Food & Agri customers are facing massive challenges relating to sustainability and the energy transition. You create an inventory of their financial opportunities and options.
  • You conduct research into the needs and wishes of first-time homebuyers. Your concrete advice can help them take their first leap in the housing market.

About the program

In the Retail Banking traineeship you spend 18 months working on four challenging projects in which you work with different bank products and become closely acquainted with our customers. You also learn about important themes like sustainable living, an inclusive society, and a financially healthy life. It’s a fast-track to getting practical experience and learning every aspect of this business.

You’ve (almost) got a university degree, you want to learn everything there is to know about financial service provision, you’re customer focused, and are good at seeing commercial opportunities. You have a good command of the English language, are flexible, and are prepared to travel to our offices in various regions.

Apply by uploading your CV and supporting letter to the website. If we see a potential match, we’ll ask you to take an assessment. The results could lead to an invitation for a selection interview. If both sides are enthusiastic, you’ll tackle a business challenge during the case day. Are you the right match for our traineeship? Then we’ll make you an offer.
