Provide data insights and automated workflows based on transaction data from more than 9.5 million Rabobank customers, enabling smarter decisions that help detect financial crime.

You & your role

As a Senior Insights Data Scientist, you turn complex Transaction Monitoring data into actionable insights and scalable analytical solutions. Within Squad Metis, you develop automated analytical capabilities that support recurring decision-making processes and help optimise Transaction Monitoring rules.

Our current focus is an end-to-end automated TM Detection rule-tuning solution. This solution enables the data-driven assessment and optimisation of Transaction Monitoring rules by analysing rule performance, investigating detection effectiveness and supporting adjustments to thresholds of single or multiple parameters.

You combine advanced analytics, software development and business knowledge to deliver production-ready solutions. Working closely with stakeholders across Business, Tech and Operations, you improve the efficiency, effectiveness and scalability of Transaction Monitoring processes.

Examples from practice

  • Develop analytical models and decision logic to determine which customer segments, parameters and rules should be prioritised for tuning.
  • Work with business stakeholders and TM Detection rule tuning analysts to translate human-driven tuning decisions into automated data-driven recommendations and analytical solutions.
  • Improve and automate analytical workflows, enabling scalable analyses across a broad range of rules, segments and parameter combinations.
  • Develop production-ready dashboards and decision-support tools, making complex insights understandable and accessible to stakeholders.

Facts & figures

  • 36 hours per week.
  • Analyse transaction data from more than 9.5 million customers.
  • Be part of an organisation with more than 48,000 colleagues worldwide.

Top 3 responsibilities

  • Develop data-driven rule-tuning strategies by creating analytical models and decision logic that determine which rules, customer segments and parameters should be prioritised and how thresholds should be optimised.
  • Build scalable analytical workflows by automating analyses across rules, segments and parameter combinations, and turning repeatable tuning processes into robust, reproducible pipelines.
  • Design and develop production-ready analytical products such as dashboards, automated workflows and decision-support tools for rule tuning and investigations.

Your solutions help colleagues make better decisions, improve Transaction Monitoring processes and increase the effectiveness of financial crime detection across Rabobank.

Together we achieve more than alone

We believe in the power of differences. By bringing together different perspectives, experiences and areas of expertise, we become an even better bank. We are curious about what you will bring to our team within the FEC Tech Tribe.

More than 80 colleagues in the Transaction Monitoring team work on analytical solutions that help detect money-laundering and terrorist-financing risks. You will work in a multidisciplinary and diverse environment where collaboration is central to how we deliver effective solutions.

Work on yourself & the world around you

For us, your development and that of society go hand in hand. That is why we invest in you and work together to create a better world. We summarize this in one sentence: “At Rabobank, you work on yourself and the world around you simultaneously.”

This is reflected in your personal development budget, our hybrid work environment, and a good work-life balance. You can also work on banking matters for our personal and business clients, as well as on social issues like the food and energy transitions.

Why everyone is welcome at Rabobank

At Rabobank, we are working towards a culture where everyone feels welcome. We value our differences and use them to collaborate more effectively and make better decisions.

By remaining open to different perspectives, we create an environment where colleagues feel heard and valued. This helps us build an organisation where people enjoy working and where we can better understand and serve our customers.

You & your talent

  • A master’s degree in a technical field.
  • More than 7 years of experience performing data analysis in Python.
  • Experience with PySpark, Databricks and Power BI, and experience building end-to-end solutions using repositories, version control, pipelines and testing frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to uncover the real question behind a request, understand complex business processes and stakeholder needs, and present insights and recommendations convincingly in English.
  • A structured and proactive approach to translating business needs into scalable analytical solutions and automation that deliver measurable impact, while anticipating new insights, techniques and opportunities.
