Hello Engineers of Rabobank, want to become a Super Saiyan? Here is your chance! Join as to help build reliable, modern payment journeys used by millions of private and business customers.
You & your role
As Full-stack Engineer, you contribute to backend development and operational responsibilities as core part of your work, while also taking on frontend responsibilities. The balance of work varies from sprint to sprint, depending on team needs and product priorities. The backend includes services that support the frontend and enable interaction with other systems. This means understanding the end-to-end user journey, introducing backend changes, and helping to keep the applications reliable and secure. Because many of the things we work on span the stack, a feature or issue may require you to understand how frontend, backend, and operational concerns fit together. Our applications are customer-facing and support payment initiation. Their centralized role in payment initiation requires usage of observability solutions, investigating issues, and participating in an on-call rotation.
You will work on the payment initiation feature and on the Address Book Order feature. The goal is to offer reliable and modern payment initiation journeys. Our journeys enable almost 9 million customers private and business to make online euro payments, make saving deposits and withdrawals (including piggy banks), make world payments and manage their foreign currency accounts and soon make WERO payments amongst other cool things.
Examples from practice
- Contributing to payment initiation features that support online euro payments, savings deposits and withdrawals, and international payments.
- Investigating production incidents using observability tooling and helping restore services for customers.
- Delivering frontend and backend changes that improve customer payment journeys across different channels.
Facts & figures
- 36-40 hours per week.
- RUPI and RABOI serve both private and business customers through Rabo Banking Online (RBO) and Rabo Business Banking (RBB).
- Around 1.7 million payments are created in RUPI every day.
- RUPI has one of the most prominent positions on the overview page in RBO and RBB.
Top responsibilities
- Contribute to our Kotlin-based backend services (in Spring Boot) supporting customer-facing payment journeys.
- Contribute to our Angular-based frontend features when a change or issue crosses the stack.
- Take the lead in operational activities, such as deployments and configurational changes.
- Closely collaborate with colleagues on feature delivery, code quality, and rollout strategy.
- Investigate and resolve issues using observability tooling and take part in the team's on-call responsibilities.
- Pair and mob with teammates, exchange knowledge, and help improve how we work.
You will work on payment journeys that are central to the daily banking experience of millions of customers. Your work spans frontend development, backend ownership, and operational excellence, giving you the opportunity to make a direct impact on highly visible services within Rabobank.
Together we achieve more than alone
We believe in the power of differences. By combining people's differences, we become an even better bank. We're curious about what you'll bring to our team at Team Dragonball. We, as team Dragonball, are responsible for delivering reliable and modern payment initiation journeys for private and business customers.
You will join a team where frontend development, backend ownership and operations come together around one customer journey. You will have space to deepen your Angular expertise, learn more about our BFFs and downstream landscape, and contribute to the reliability of a highly visible part of RBO and RBB. Together we work on a product that millions of people depend on without ever noticing it, and honestly, that is kind of the point. The best payment journey is the one customers do not have to think about.
Collaboration is our way of working; as one technical team within Rabobank. We work closely together through pairing, mobbing, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. Engineers support each other across frontend, backend, and operational responsibilities while focusing on delivering customer value.
Work on yourself & the world around you
For us, your development and that of society go hand in hand. That is why we want to invest in you and work together to create a better world. This is reflected in your personal development budget, our hybrid work environment, and a good work-life balance. You can also work on banking matters for our personal and business clients, as well as on social issues like the food and energy transitions.
Why everyone is welcome at Rabobank
At Rabobank, we're working toward a culture where everyone feels welcome. We value our differences and use them to collaborate more effectively and make better decisions. We do this step by step, paying attention to what's going well and to the areas where we can continue to improve. By being open to different perspectives, we're creating an environment where colleagues feel heard. That helps us build an organization where people enjoy working and where we truly understand and serve our customers.
