Do you dare to improve systems that millions of transactions depend on? Behind reliable payment processing lies technology that must perform every day. By making deployment processes smarter, safer and more efficient, you enable engineers to deliver value faster.
You & your role
Somewhere behind the scenes, technology is running that almost no one sees, but everyone relies on. Payments need to be processed, DevOps teams want to deliver faster, deployments need to land flawlessly, and that is exactly where you come in. As a DevOps Engineer Software Control & Deployment, you make the z/OS environment not only more stable, but also smarter, more modern and more scalable. You bring mainframe expertise, preferably from a system management background, and use modern automation technologies to take management and deployment processes to the next level.
This role is for someone who looks beyond resolving incidents. You recognise patterns, connect teams and translate technical complexity into solutions that continue to deliver results. Version control, deployment, automation and pipeline improvement are not separate tasks to you, but part of a bigger picture: enabling DevOps teams to deliver software to production reliably, securely and with greater speed.
You work in a modern mainframe environment where traditional reliability is combined with contemporary DevOps principles. You will work with, among other things:
- Mainframe and z/OS technologies such as COBOL, CICS, DataPower, MQ and DB2.
- Modern automation technologies such as Git, Ansible, Python and Java.
- Automating mainframe tasks, preferably within a DevOps context.
- Mainframe tooling and modern CI/CD pipelines such as IDz, Git, DBB, UCD, Azure DevOps, z/OS Connect, ADDI and Sonar.
- Principles of integrated management, process-oriented working, risk management and compliance.
Examples from practice
- Ensuring modern, smarte rand scalable deployment processes.
- Supporting development teams with complex technical integration challenges across applications and environments.
- Designing, testing and implementing improvements to existing tooling, automation processes and deployment pipelines.
Facts & figures
- 36 hours per week.
- Around 100 colleagues contribute to the infrastructure domain that supports the mainframe environment.
Top responsibilities
- You work closely with the DevOps teams of Payment Solutions.
- You design, build, test and implement improvements to existing tooling and pipelines.
- You help build modern CI/CD solutions for z/OS applications.
- You support DevOps teams with complex technical integration challenges.
- You actively contribute to an Agile way of working: doing the right things at the right time.
- You safeguard quality, continuity and compliance in a highly available and business-critical environment.
Together we achieve more than alone
We believe in the power of differences. By combining people's differences, we become an even better bank. We are curious about what you will bring to our team at APF Generic Infrastructural Services. Within APF Generic Infrastructural Services (GIS), around 100 colleagues combine their knowledge and energy to modernise, manage and future-proof the mainframe environment. You will join a professional team with room for initiative, knowledge sharing and diverse perspectives.
We believe that strong technology is built in diverse teams. That is why we actively encourage talent that brings fresh perspectives. Whether you have many years of experience in mainframe technology or want to grow into z/OS from a background in DevOps, software engineering or technical operations, we would love to hear your story.
Work on yourself & the world around you
For us, your development and that of society go hand in hand. That is why we invest in you and work together to create a better world. This is reflected in your personal development budget, our hybrid work environment and a healthy work-life balance. You can also contribute to initiatives that support customers and society while helping Rabobank achieve its mission of Growing a better world together.
