We’re looking for an experienced and driven Relationship Manager to join our Country Banking team, managing and growing a portfolio of rural clients while delivering exceptional outcomes for both our customers and the bank.
About the role | Mō te tūranga
In this client-facing role, you will take ownership of a portfolio of rural clients, building trusted relationships and delivering tailored financial solutions. You’ll balance commercial growth with strong risk management, ensuring sustainable success for your clients and Rabobank.
You’ll work collaboratively with internal specialists and contribute to shaping the future of rural banking in your region.
What You’ll Do
- Build and grow a portfolio of rural clients through strong, long-term relationships
- Manage complex client needs, delivering tailored lending and financial solutions
- Drive new business growth while nurturing existing partnerships
- Lead high-quality Farm Business Discussions (FBDs) to support client success
- Ensure excellent credit risk management and adherence to policy
- Deliver strong financial outcomes across lending, deposits, and margins
- Identify risks early and implement proactive solutions
- Contribute to local business plans, marketing initiatives, and community presence
- Work closely with Credit, Operations, and specialist teams to achieve the best outcomes
- Coach and support colleagues, fostering a collaborative team environment
About you | Ō pūkenga
Success in this role comes from blending sharp commercial insight with a strong connection to the rural sector and its people
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Agriculture
- 5+ years’ experience in rural banking or a related industry
- Strong financial acumen, including understanding of cashflows, balance sheets, and P&L
- Proven ability to build relationships, influence decisions, and negotiate outcomes
- Sound knowledge of lending, credit processes, and risk frameworks
- A genuine passion for the Food & Agribusiness sector
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders
