About the role

Rabobank Australia is seeking an IT‑savvy, data‑confident operational risk professional to join our 2nd Line Operational Risk Advisory team. If you enjoy using systems, analysing data to generate insights, improving processes, & partnering with the business to strengthen resilience, this role is for you.

In this role you will provide expert advice, deepen our risk culture, & help ensure our Operational Risk Framework is embedded effectively across the business. Our team is particularly looking for someone who can combine strong operational risk experience with hands‑on capability in data, systems, & process improvement.

As Manager - Operations Risk, you will work closely with business teams across Australia & New Zealand to deliver high‑quality risk oversight, challenge, & technical support. In this role, you will:

  • Support & continually improve operational risk frameworks, policies, & controls
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments & provide trusted second‑line challenge on new initiatives & business change
  • Oversee incidents, root‑cause analysis, & thematic reviews
  • Strengthen business continuity & operational resilience practices, aligning to APRA CPS 230 in Australia & emerging regulations in New Zealand such as the Deposit Takers Act
  • Help translate regulatory & policy expectations into practical, effective controls
  • Partner with the business to enhance decision‑making & drive risk‑aware outcomes

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation & uplift of operational risk frameworks, controls, & processes
  • Provide second‑line challenge on business processes, change initiatives, & risk acceptances
  • Administer & enhance the Archer GRC system, ensuring data quality, reporting integrity, & user support
  • Analyse incidents, trends, & operational risk metrics to generate meaningful insights
  • Conduct control testing & deep dives, & provide input into  thematic reviews
  • Prepare clear, insightful reporting & support papers for risk committees
  • Build strong relationships across the business & deliver practical, accessible operational risk guidance & training

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings strong operational risk experience & the technical capability to elevate our data, systems, & process insight - an area our team is actively looking to strengthen.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • 3–5+ years in financial services, ideally in operational risk, audit, controls
  • Solid understanding of operational risk management, CPS220, CPS230, Basel standards, & RBNZ expectations
  • Effective stakeholder engagement & relationship‑building skills
  • Strong capability in RCA facilitation, control testing, incident analysis, & data interpretation
  • The ability to analyse data, identify patterns, & turn findings into actionable insights
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide constructive challenge
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, & the ability to work independently
  • Experience using GRC tools (Archer ideal), with confidence navigating & improving systems
