In this series, we interview trainees, starters, and interns about their first experiences at Rabobank. What is their role and what responsibilities come with it? How do they like their first job? This time, we speak with Chigozie, Junior Business Analyst at Rabobank.
Can you briefly introduce yourself?
Hey, I'm Chigozie and I live in Amsterdam. I have a background in Communication and Multimedia Design and a master's in Data and Design. Currently, I work as a Junior Business Analyst at Rabobank in the Tribe Payments & Savings.
How did you end up at Rabobank and what were your first impressions?
After my studies in Communication and Multimedia Design, I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to do. So, I started a master's in Digital Driven Design. Through LinkedIn, I was approached by a traineeship agency that trains people from various backgrounds for IT roles. The traineeship felt like an opportunity to develop myself and gain work experience, which led to my current job. During my interview with Rabobank, there was an immediate click. The organization was open to someone without a traditional IT background. They saw potential, and that gave me the confidence to seize this opportunity.
My first impressions of Rabobank were very positive. The building was very impressive, and I immediately felt welcome by my colleagues and my buddy.

Your studies and current role don't seem to match directly. How do you see that and what does your current role entail?
"My studies in Communication and Multimedia Design may not seem directly linked to my current role as a business analyst, but I see it as an advantage. The creative and analytical skills I developed during my studies help me now to find smart solutions to difficult problems.
My role as a business analyst is to be the link between developers and the business. I translate technical requirements into concrete actions and work with various teams to improve processes. It's surprisingly human work, where collaboration and communication are central."
How do you experience the work culture and work-life balance at Rabobank?
"The work culture at Rabobank is super chill and everyone is helpful. I appreciate the freedom to fill in my work as I see fit, although there are, of course, boundaries. Thanks to the flexibility of working from home, I only go to the office once a week, I have a lot of time to skate, climb, and spend time with friends and family.
The real impact of my work lies in the social aspect. It's people work. I constantly coordinate everything with managers in Eindhoven who are working from home or with developers in Chennai, whom I even got to visit once. We improve processes that make work easier for everyone."
It is surprisingly human work, where collaboration and communication are central."

What are your future plans?
"I am interested in entrepreneurship, sustainability, and implementing new products within Rabobank. I want to delve deeper into these areas and expand my network. Additionally, I want to grow and continue developing my skills. My goal is to have a positive impact on both the organization and society."
