Manager Rural Credit Structuring

Job Overview/Purpose:

The Rural Credit Structuring team (RCS team) is responsible for supporting and enhancing credit & lending solutions, structuring and the deal process for Country Banking’s largest more complex rural clients. The CS team is client facing, client focused, innovative and solution orientated. Operating within the Bank’s risk appetite and promoting the balance of being commercial and in control. The CS team mandate is to train, empower and upskill Regional analysts, whilst develop best practice and tools for managing CB AU’s complex and large client base. CB AU’s largest and complex client set in the context of this role is:

■Existing Exposures > AUD20mln;
■New to Bank > AUD15mln;
■‘Horticulture’ existing and New to Bank > AUD8mln;
■As directed by Senior Management.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

■Focus on Top pre-farm clients and Rural Manager complex clients
■Maintain credit standards in line with Bank policies and credit risk appetite/strategic direction
■Support Regional Analysts and Relationship Managers with enhancing, structuring and reviewing credit submissions especially new to bank and more complex files. This can include:
a) Jointly write deal with Regional Analyst for files which exceed AUD90mln;
b) Jointly work with Regional analyst to prepare in depth financial modelling
c) Jointly work with Regional analyst to prepare terms sheet and funding structure
d) Provide in depth and constructive feedback on credit submissions and funding proposals
■For new to Bank clients, be involved in:
a) Reviewing indicative term sheets
b) Preparing New To Bank memos
c) Reviewing New To Bank memos
d) Reviewing and preparing Pitch Documents
■Upskill Regional analysts in preparing lending proposals for the top pre-farm and complex clients
■Support Relationship Managers in coordinating deal teams (when assigned to a deal)
■Support submissions/ funding proposals to Credit, Bank credit committee/s and Senior Management in Risk and Country Banking
■As required, visit client with Relationship Manager to help promote and discuss funding solutions
■As required, work regionally/locally with relationship team, including regional analysts on transactions
■Where required work with branch post approval should the lending structure or solution require further support beyond credit approval (i.e. negotiation of facility agreement, execution of certain covenants, triggers or milestones)
■Ensure effective communication is maintained with internal and external stakeholders.
■Translate, provide guidance and advice to other staff on changes to policy and procedure, compliance, legal and system updates.
■Proactively provide feedback, ideas and initiatives to peers and Country Banking management.
■File administration /Maintenance:
a) Provide LCC secretary
■Act as a mentor to other Analysts and Associate Analysts within the Region.
■Other duties are directed.

Job Skills and Knowledge:

■Strong credit and financial analysis skills.
■Knowledge and experience in effective training, development and communication activities
■Clear written and verbal communication skills.
■Ability to maintain sound relationships with key internal and external clients.
■Ability to work towards timeframes and manage client expectations.
■Strong planning and organisational skills to manage competing priorities and plan workflow.


■Minimum 5 years’ experience in a credit/banking role.
■Tertiary qualifications in either business, finance, economics, agribusiness or related discipline
