Intern – Smallholder Agroforestry Proposition Rabobank
Imagine contributing to production and income levels of smallholder farmers in developing countries by supporting them in their transition to agroforestry and at the same time combating climate change, land degradation and food insecurity at a large scale. A new initiative within Rabobank uses satellite images to measure the farmer's carbon storage and translate this into carbon removal units. This gives the smallholder farmers access to the international carbon market. This is how we are contributing to growing a better world as well as a stronger Rabobank.
Your main objective as an intern is to contribute to the following objective: ‘to onboard 15 million farmers within 5 years directly and indirectly together with intermediaries, to support them in their transition to agroforestry (financially and technically) with the help of partners and to generate sufficient carbon sequestration transaction income for Rabobank’
As part of the Supply team, you and your colleagues are responsible for selecting and approaching intermediaries with whom Rabobank can work together to realize the transition from smallholders to agroforestry at scale and to ensure that farmers and intermediaries are registered on our platform.
Your responsibilities consist of:
Support the team in achieving the targets for entering into partnerships with intermediaries and farmers
Support in customer analysis in the field of, among other things, carbon storage, implementation risks and scalability.
Entering into new cooperation agreements with new relations, including collecting the required documents for registration on the platform
Support in monitoring the number of farmers and impact that is being created, as well as ensuring we are identifying possible challenges in time.
Help set up a scalable infrastructure for the team
