About the role | Mō te tūranga

At the forefront of financial crime prevention, we’re seeking a seasoned leader to head our Transaction Monitoring (TM) Operations & Case Management function in New Zealand (NZ).

As regulators increase their levels of oversight, there is an increasing need to demonstrate the design and operating effectiveness of the Financial Economic Crime framework, specifically in the TM and Regulatory reporting domains.

This is a pivotal role within our Regional Financial Economic Crime (FEC) Operations teams, supporting the Chief Operating Officers in Australia and NZ and contributing to a global mission to protect customers, the bank, and society.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and manage the NZ Transaction Monitoring team, ensuring effective alert analysis and case management.
  • Oversee the submission of Suspicious Activity/Transaction Reports (SARs/STRs) to the NZ Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
  • Identify and respond to emerging money laundering and terrorism financing risks and typologies.
  • Develop and maintain compliant TM procedures aligned with local and global AML/CFT regulations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Compliance, Operations, Risk, and Global FEC teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement in TM processes, controls, and performance metrics.
  • Coach and develop a high-performing team of analysts, ensuring regulatory awareness and analytical excellence.
  • Support vendor management and system enhancements for TM platforms.

What you bring:

  • Proven leadership experience in financial crime, AML/CFT, or regulatory compliance.
  • Deep understanding of transaction monitoring frameworks and regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments across NZ, Australia, and Europe.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
