Internship Overview Statement
Rabobank’s internship program is designed to provide a mutually beneficial relationship and growth opportunity for Rabobank and collegiate students. This experiential learning opportunity provides practical application and skills development in a professional environment and is aligned with Rabobank’s commitment to recruit top talent in the communities we serve. While employed as a summer intern, students will have the opportunity to prove their ability to learn and demonstrate key skills that will make them successful at Rabobank. To aid in this endeavor, students will be matched with a mentor and provided the necessary professional development opportunities to achieve their goals. The internship will be full time, 10 week, paid program concluding with a final project/presentation.
Context of Job:
The Accounting Policy department is responsible for ensuring that the Bank follow US GAAP (for U.S. regulatory reporting purposes) and IFRS (for Head Office reporting purposes). We are also responsible for implementing new standards where appropriate. The Accounting Policy Intern will play a subject matter expert role in technical accounting in contributing to the overall success of this department.
The Accounting Policy Intern is an important role, who will be assisting the Head of Accounting Policy in the bank’s implementation effort on new accounting standards, assist with project management, monitoring accounting standards development, conduct accounting research, prepare educational materials, participate in reviewing complex and confidential transactions, prepare accounting analysis memo, liaise with controllers and perform research on accounting consultation from the businesses.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Develop and maintain Rabobank’s US accounting policies to ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards across the Region.
Research and evaluate the accounting for new and/or proposed transactions. Propose solutions or alternatives as applicable.
Document and communicate the accounting for the transactions (both technical and operational accounting considerations).
Prepare and present monthly complex transaction summary.
Assist business units in the implementation of new standards.
Prepare educational materials.
Complete all mandatory training
Comply with code of conduct and Bank policies/ procedures
Actively identify incidents outside of established policies and procedures and report to management immediately
Must be familiar with and comply with laws, regulations and internal policies and procedures that are applicable to required job duties.
Understands and complies with all RAF and Rabobank anti-money laundering, compliance, and all other applicable laws.

Job Skills and Knowledge:
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Technical excellence in accounting literature.
Strong research attitude.
Must be currently a Sophomore or Junior level in college
Must have completed introduction to accounting
Knowledge of financial and management accounting systems.
Target Hiring Range:
This position is subject to the terms of Rabo Diversified Services’s compensation plans and policies. It is anticipated that the position will pay within the target hiring range. The range is reflective of the desired primary physical work location and may be adjusted outside of the projected range based on geographical differentiation if the actual work location of the hired candidate differs from the desired primary location, or for other lawful reasons.
