Solution Architect Online Business Banking

Imagine… That you work on a platform that serves a million business customers, ranging from startups, freelancers, the grocer around the corner, rural clients and small/ medium enterprises, all the way to large corporations and even wholesale clients. As a Solution Architect (SA), you will be helping to build the platform that makes digital business banking possible, worldwide. With each other 

Within the Distribution department you will provide architectural guidance on the implementation of features and extending the banking platform for our business customers called Rabo Business Banking (RBB). You will be working in the Business area, which is part of the tribe Digital Platform of Rabobank. The Business area provides core business banking features, banking platform services and building blocks that not only support our customers in their daily business banking needs, but also other internal teams from other tribes and areas hosted on our platform. 

As a Solution Architect, you will guide two squads of 5-7 developers and closely work with colleague SAs, the Product Owner, the area Solution Architect and others. The teams are located in Utrecht and India, and we are working from home locations mostly due to COVID. 

Within the team of SAs we continuously strive to improve ourselves and define our architecture way of working. We are also working on the future state and architecture roadmap for the coming years, where we will be looking into how we can make our platform even more powerful.

You are a communicative team player who is able to formulate and communicate a vision and have a drive to improve yourself and the people around you. You have shown the courage to challenge and develop yourself even when you and your team make a mistake. The important part is that you (and your team) learn from that and grow. 

You will be working on a lot of topics in parallel, which involves defining and coordinating the activities to make this happen. As such, you will have limited time to actually code, but are in the driver’s seat to make significant improvements happen. 

You will be a driving force as part of the squad leadership. You are comfortable in working with several experts, define solution directions and driving these changes. You have experience working in a corporate environment with complex technological landscapes and know how to deal with a multitude of stakeholders and corporate processes. 

We expect you to have at least four years' experience with architecting and developing customer-facing web applications in enterprise environments. You have experience with both frontend and backend development, best practices, patterns and frameworks, and are familiar with security, stateless solutions, authentication tokens, microservices. 

With your talents 

It is important that you recognize yourself in the following checklist: 

  • You have strong analytical and conceptual skills, being able to address user issues and possible business impact. 

  • You like formulating a vision, communicating it and guiding others in making it a reality. 

  • You are comfortable working on several topics in parallel, with several stakeholders. 

  • You have experience with frontend and backend for frontend/ microservice frameworks and concepts, such as Angular, Spring Boot, JSON/ Jackson, Swagger. 

  • You have a Java, JavaScript/ TypeScript background. 

  • You have worked with cloud technology, cloud marketplace services, container solutions such as Cloud Foundry, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, serverless. 

  • You are fluent in English, both verbally and in writing. Preferably also in Dutch. 

  • You are familiar with working in DevOps teams and the rituals of Agile / Scrum. 

  • You have a proactive approach in improving solutions and embrace challenge. 

  • You can write high level architecture documents, decision records and architecture roadmaps with clarity. 

  • You maintain a clear vision on how your architecture supports the business requirements and direction, and where your architecture should be heading. 

  • You are able to translate this vision into reality, giving guidance to developers and other architects. 

  • You have the ability to motivate others. You can create structure and purpose. 

  • You embrace changes and leadership is in your DNA. 

  • At minimum have a completed (technical) bachelor’s degree.

  • a personal budget that you can spend on activities related to your personal development and career; 

  • flexible working times and location-independent working; 

  • Reimbursement for commuting costs when you travel by public transport, car or motorbike;  

  • a pension scheme, to which your contribution is only 3,5%.
