You and your job
As Food & Agribusiness Analyst – Sustainable Food & Ingredients, you will work in one of the most dynamic international departments of Rabobank: European & Africa RaboResearch Food & Agriculture team. You take the lead in analyzing the food ingredient markets (75% of your day-to-day work) and sustainability topics (25%) for Consumer foods & beverage markets in the Europe & Africa. Since the majority of sustainability impacts of many food & beverage products originates upstream, you have in-depth expertise and understanding of these food (ingredients) & beverage firms. You possess a keen understanding of the food ingredient companies, the markets they serve, and have a broad public and private F&A network, especially regarding food ingredients in Europe & Africa. It drives your eagerness to generate insights into the mainly European & African region about Greenhouse Gas emissions reduction opportunities, land, water, deforestation & biodiversity regulations, the upcoming trends in diets, nutrients & fermentation, food & packaging waste reductions, including Rabobank’s own reduction and growth targets, governmental and corporate clients’ commitments, and what this all means for the economic business model of our clients & Rabobank. You can run research projects independently but within the broader context of a bigger (complex) organization. As such you are a key liaison and sparring partner for sectors specialists, climate & sustainability specialists and data scientists within RaboResearch and for other Rabobank departments (f.e. Climate & Credit Risk, Carbon Bank, Food Transition).

What is the future of fermentation?
How will the ingredients list of food and beverages change, and what will be the new ingredients?
What are sustainability targets of downstream companies and how will these impact the supply chain?
What solutions are out there to create a more sustainable food system?
Your tasks and responsibilities

F.e.: many sustainability metrics are still evolving and circumstances may change rapidly, but you can deal effectively with uncertainty and volatility.

You and your talent
In depth Food ingredient knowledge, a passion for sustainability and analytical skills are essential for the role of Food & Agribusiness Analyst – Sustainable Food & Ingredients. You think in terms of opportunities. A proactive and positive mind-set and the ability to conduct multifaceted research projects is also critical to be successful in this role. Do you recognize yourself in our needs and the list of additional skills and expertise below?
You have an academic working and thinking level (Master's degree in Food Science, Business, Economics, or Finance)
At least 3 years of work experience in a food industry subsector, either in industry, research, consultancy or other relevant fields
Demonstrable experience with (financial) risk analysis and quantitative analysis of sustainability issues
Next to being an excellent analyst, you are a good organizer, take initiative, create support, cooperate and work result-oriented and resiliently with a high dose of execution power
Capable of translating complex research into simple clear take-away messages in an engaging way
Strong verbal and written communication skills with proficiency in English, both verbally and in writing. Other language skills, incl. Dutch, are an advantage
This is what we offer you
Salary in scale 9 or 10 (up to € 6,741 gross per month) depending on knowledge, skills and experience, plus a thirteenth month, holiday pay, a generous pension scheme, and an Employee Benefit Budget equal to 11% of your monthly salary.
A 36-hour working week with flexible working times.
Hybrid working: together with your team and based on your projects, you decide when you want to use a Rabo House (location Utrecht: at least twice a week), and when you want to work from home or another location (in the Netherlands).
