Business Development Associate, Carbon Bank

Engage US farmers daily on sustainability. This role will engage with farmers on a series of Carbon initiatives with a focus on assisting farmers to improve soil health and reduce livestock emissions. As a team member of the Rabo Carbon Bank, this position will work locally while thinking globally about the food and agriculture value chain.

As a Business Development Associate, Carbon Bank, you will be successful working with all types of farmers throughout the US on carbon focused sustainability initiatives they can implement on their farm.

The Carbon Bank develops projects that store carbon in trees and soil, as well as reduction in methane and nitrous oxide emissions, through cooperation with farmers. This role will work with Rabo AgriFinance Relationship Managers to identify farmer clients interested in our carbon initiatives. Extensive travel to visit farms throughout the rural US and discuss carbon is expected.

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct engagement with farmers throughout the U.S. with primary responsibility to recruit growers for Rabo Carbon Bank initiatives. (Note: This role will work closely with Rabo AgriFinance Relationship Managers in identifying farmer clients)

  • Serve as the farmer clients primary contact for all product and service-related questions within the Carbon Bank

  • Educate internal Rabo AgriFinance team of Relationship Managers, Business Development Managers, and others on carbon-based sustainability activities and programs

  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of farming practices, Rabo clients, and sustainability topics in agriculture (regenerative farming, etc.)

  • Translate client needs and opportunities to Rabo Carbon Bank with respect to Carbon ambitions in the development of products and services.

Your Promise to Us:

To be considered for the Business Development Associate, Carbon Bank role, you have

  • At least 5 years of professional experience with at least 1 year of farmer engagement.

  • Absolute minimum would be 3 years' professional experience total.

  • Experience traveling.

  • Ability to book your own travel arrangements, submit expense reports, and set your own schedule.

  • Outgoing personality.

This role will require a lot of interpersonal communication skills.

  • You also should bring experience in working with farmers. (Understanding of U.S. Agriculture)

  • Bring experience in carbon initiatives/sustainability. (Understanding of basic sustainability principles)

  • Be self-motivated (self-starter) – have the ability to manage own process and output.

  • Have the ability to write reports and business correspondence.

  • Have the ability to speak effectively before employees of the Bank.

  • Be comfortable with a heavy travel schedule - especially from January through April

Salary Expectations:

Target Hiring Range: $75,000 - $90,000

This position is subject to the terms of [RAF/Rabobank/RDS]’s compensation plans and policies. It is anticipated that the position will pay within the target hiring range. The range is reflective of the desired primary physical work location and may be adjusted outside of the projected range based on geographical differentiation if the actual work location of the hired candidate differs from the desired primary location, or for other lawful reasons. Further, the position includes all other benefits provided to [RAF/Rabobank/RDS] employees, including healthcare benefits, 401k matching, vacation, sick leave, parental leave, possible discretionary bonuses and all other benefits that are all governed by and subject to ERISA plan documents and eligibility.
