On 15th of April from 4-5 PM our colleague Patrick Sevat will give a talk at the Frontmania webinar. His talk will be about monorepos and how you can have impact as an engineer in a enterprise environment.
Monorepos are hot, perhaps even a buzzword. They add benefits which will be covered shortly, but the main focus of the talk will be on the practical challenges. Are you interested how you can prevent others from changing the code you own? Would you like to know what needs to happen when upgrade a major version of your frontend framework? How do you change a function signature in over 18k TypeScript files?
This talk covers how we solved these challenges (and more!) at Rabobank.
The other talk will be about having impact in an enterprise environment. We all know the downsides of working in an enterprise: legacy code, bureaucracy and a lot of processes. While some of that is true, that does not mean you can’t change these downsides. During this talk Patrick will share his stories from when he was able to make a difference at Rabobank. He will give you tips and tricks on how you can raise your own level of influence as a software engineer.
Patrick is a Senior Software Engineer at Rabobank. He has worked on Rabobank’s Design System and the Frontend Platform (Senses). At Rabobank he has made a big impact, architecting the frontend integration testing framework, doing the groundwork for the Jenkins to Azure Pipelines migration, organising (internal) meetups and most recently is the engineer’s voice in setting up the Engineering Culture, which will transform Rabobank from a bank with an IT department to a tech company with a banking license.
